Team RV Performs at the Boshears Skyfest 2009 Contributed by: tomdubes | Views::232
Oct 17, 18 2009 marked the 17th Annual Boshears Skyfest at Daniel field in Augusta, GA. Team RV was invited back for our 5th year. Brad Kyzer, the whole show staff, and Augusta Aviation did a great job putting on another first class event.
Despite crummy weather on Saturday, 9 Team RV pilots made it in for the briefing. We launched and flew a practice, then went right into our show, as we landed the show was cancelled for the day. Sunday turned out to be a much better day, with beautiful blue skies and scattered clouds at 4500ft. Team RV briefed at the hotel, and launched for our practice immediately after the Air Boss Briefing. We recoved, debriefed and rested a while before going up for the Sunday Show. A large and appreciative crowd greated us on landing, and the Event - Autograph tent seemed to be a big hit. Lots of kids young and old came by to collect the Team's autographs.
All in all a great conclusion to our 2009 show season. We're excited and can't wait for next year!
Note: Our camera crew was on site for Boshears 2009 Air show and shot the following video series. This video is intended to give a potential Client a feel for what a Team RV show is all about.VIdeo Link (HD version)

Team RV Flies the Rock Hill 50th Anniversary Contributed by: tomdubes | Views::56
The Rock Hill Airport is home base for one of our pilots at Team RV. That connection is what led Eric Ramsdell, the Airport Manager to contact Team RV about a performance at the 50th Anniversary Event. They were not putting on an Airshow, but just had some aviation displays and flybys from Cessna, JARS, and one-T33. Having never seen Team RV first hand Eric did not know what to expect. After the show, Eric stated that he was surprised by how much he got out of Team RV. After some early fog burned off the event had beautiful flying weather. The Team flew the Missing Man Ceremony with the presentation of colors, departed the area for a practice at LKR, and then did a re-arrival with our signature smokin pivot turn. The crowd loved it and we hadn?t even flown the show yet! After the standard 16 minute show performance and recovery, Team RV pilots talked with interested spectators and allowed numerous future aviators to sit in RV airplanes! No question the Team RV performance was the highlight of the days flying events.
Special thanks to Eric Ramsdell - The Airport Manager, Rick Shepard of Skytech for all the services, and the CAP Cadets for flightline security.

Stu McCurdy ?Falcon? led the National RV Formation Demonstration Team on another record setting performance at Oshkosh 2009.
Friday July 24th 37 RV?s descended on Whiteside County Airport SQI ? 50 miles West of Chicago O?Hare. The group included 14 ships from Team RV. There were some maintenance items to deal with; one pilot had to do a rush valve job on one cylinder, one arrived at SQI with a dead alternator, and one had a bad magneto. Through teamwork, spare parts coordination, and working thru the night on Friday evening, all 37 ships were 100% airworthy on Saturday at 8:00AM.
On arrival Falcon led the group in a 2 hour safety briefing. He and the other flight leads had previously assigned each pilot a number and a location in the formations. The plan was emailed out several days in advance for review and study.
On Saturday morning everyone went up with a four ship for a wake up and polish up flight. Next we briefed and flew as 2 - 16 ships to get everyone used to the sight picture with more than the usual number of planes around. Finally we flew the entire 37 ship plan and debriefed completely.
On Sunday morning the group flew the 37 ship routine again. Then loaded up passengers and baggage and departed for Oshkosh. We were expected in the 37 ship diamond over the Brown Gate Dedication Ceremony at 1:30PM. We hit our mark + 4 seconds!
The Oshkosh Routine video here is scripted on the attached card. It was quite an accomplishment and was made possible by; 1-The Formation Flight Inc. RV Formation Standards conceived, written, and mentored thru FAA approval by Stu McCurdy. 2 ? Great airplane designs by Richard VanGrunsven and kitted by Vans Aircraft. 3 ? The patience and prodding of the FFI Check Pilots and Flight Leads across the country who keep nurturing new formation pilots. And finally 4 ? The dedication, discipline and financial commitment of 37 RV pilots from across the United States.

Team RV Flies the 2009 Peachtree Dekalb Air Show Contributed by: Admin | Views::75
Each year Team RV looks forward to the Peachtree Dekalb Air Show. Not only is it a great show where we are treated like kings, but since it a local show, we get to bring our wifes along for a night out on the town in Buckhead. We usually spend our flying proceeds in one fell swoop for dinner.... But we don't care. We thoroughly enjoy our time at PDK and we surely appreciate our wifes that put up with our flying antics all season long. PDK Slide Show
This years festivities started out with a performers party Friday light, complete with a live band and all the refreshments we could consume. Up early Saturday morning to find the planes ready on the ramp for us, thanks to the great staff at Epps Aviation who always take good care of us. Next its the show brief, followed by a launch by the team out to a practice area for some last minute spit and polish on the routine.
We return to the airport for the opening ceremonies where Team RV performs a 10 ship missing man to a live taps playing by the Atlanta Blue Notes Orchstra.
From there we swoop back in to dazzle the crowd with our new and improved 2009 air show routine. New music, new acts.. Lots of fun for pilots and spectators alike. Marc St. Pierre, a renound photographer, took some great photos.
Team RV would like to extend a special thanks to Mike Van Wie, the 2009 Air Boss, for once again taking such great care of us. Another great show by the best in the business.

Team RV Flies the 2009 Anderson Snowbirds Air Show Contributed by: Admin | Views::97
For the first time in our history, we were invited to open up the 2009 Anderson Snowbirds Air Show. We have never opened for the Snowbirds before and we were honored to be flying with them. Anderson attracts over 30,000 people to their show with no admission fees and no parking fees.
Under blue skies and a light haze, Team RV performed our new 2009 routine for the first time under an FAA waiver. The new routine is filled with exciting new moves and formations. We received some great comments from the crowd as well as the show directors. In particular, one of the Snowbirds performers flying in the -9 position, come over and shook my hand and told me what an outstanding performance we delivered. Coming from those guys, that meant a lot.
